1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 65-u, W-5495. Rarity-3. Head Right. VF-25 (PCGS).

1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 65-u, W-5495. Rarity-3. Head Right. VF-25 (PCGS). SHI DS1. Nice medium brown overall with steely-olive highlights engaging some of the design elements, microporosity also seen in places under low magnification. Nicely centered and not overly marked to the unassisted eye, although accuracy compels us to mention several faint scratches in and around the central obverse, X-shaped scratch in field below plow handles is suggestive of graffiti. Boldly defined overall, many collectors will find this to be a suitable New Jersey type coin at the middle reaches of the grading scale. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from our Baltimore Auction of June 2012, lot 1138, as PCGS/CAC VF-25. PCGS# 521. NGC ID: 2B4Y. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
