1925-S Mercury Dime. MS-66 FB (NGC).

1925-S Mercury Dime. MS-66 FB (NGC).

1925-S Mercury Dime. MS-66 FB (NGC). This boldly lustrous beauty is further enhanced by bright, vivid toning in mottled reddish-orange that is largely confined to the upper obverse and lower reverse peripheries. Both sides are universally smooth in appearance with full strike detail in and around the centers. Although not particularly rare in Mint State for a 1920s Mercury dime with a relatively limited mintage of 5,850,000 pieces, the 1925-S is one of the most challenging issues of the type to locate with overall sharpness of strike. This is a superior quality survivor in all regards, solidly in the Full Bands category with bold to sharp peripheral detail and expertly preserved surfaces. Attractively toned, as well, and eagerly awaiting inclusion in an advanced Mercury dime set. Provenance: From the Mack C. Chase Collection. NGC Census: 10; 6 finer in this category (MS-67+ FB finest). PCGS# 4953. NGC ID: 23HP. Click here for certification details from NGC.
