1969-D Washington Quarter. Struck on a Cent Planchet. MS-66 RD (NGC).

1969-D Washington Quarter. Struck on a Cent Planchet. MS-66 RD (NGC). 3.1 grams. The cent planchet was aligned to the lower edge of the obverse, upper edge of the reverse, expanding and thinning to an ovoid shape as it attempted to fill the space between the quarter dies. The date and mintmark areas are full, the central motifs on both sides also nicely defined and crisp. Pretty medium rose-red mint color overall with hints of powder blue iridescence here and there at the peripheries. Provenance: From Heritage's sale of the Denny Polly Error Collection, June 2023 Error Coinage Showcase Auction, lot 51383. Click here for certification details from NGC.
