1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL ‘Pagoda’ roadster with hardtop No reserve - Completely restored to a very high standard - Delivered new in Germany, 4-speed manual gearbox - Original ‘Signalrot’ colour and hard-top - Particularly comprehensive history file - No reserve 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL ‘Pagoda’ roadster with hardtop This European-spec Mercedes 280 SL ‘Pagoda’ left the factory on 9 July 1970 and was fitted from new with the desirable four-speed manual gearbox. It is still finished in its original colour of ‘Signalrot’ (568H), which goes magnificently with its beige leather upholstery and original hardtop. In the United States, the car belonged to Kenneth Stadt from the New York area, whose large collection included several classic Porsches and Mercedes. Maintained by Pepe Motors, the 280 SL was bought by Thierry Dehaeck in October 2015 and imported into Belgium the following month. It then underwent a meticulous restoration, with work on the body entrusted to Roeland Vincke, a renowned Belgian workshop. They carried out a remarkable job, extensively documented in a file containing numerous photographs. Alongside this work, the mechanical components, upholstery and accessories were restored by Cady Cars to a very high standard, regardless of time or cost, with the result that the car is now in exceptional condition. Since being restored, it has covered only 1000km or so. As its engine plate indicates, Its 2.8-litre M130 engine is an official replacement unit (Tauschaggregat) fitted in the Mercedes dealer network, and was completely overhauled. The car will be supplied with an extensive history file including its factory build card, a copy of its American registration document, import papers, its original service book, the guarantee for the original Becker radio, a catalogue from the period, the owner’s manual in its original wallet, bills and a great many photographs of its restoration. Extremely well documented, in a desirable specification and a superb colour combination, this magnificently restored Mercedes 280 SL ‘Pagoda’ sold with its hard-top in original livery, is without doubt one of the finest available on the market. Please note that there is a mistake in the printed catalog. The VIN number is 113.044-10-019334 and not 113.044-10-0193304.
