1972 Citroën SM No reserve - Purchased in 2020 by Thierry Dehaeck from its first owner - Exceptional and richly documented history - Very fine presentation - No reserve What makes this Citroën SM exceptional is that it remained in the hands of Mrs Lutgardis Verbesselt, from Londerzeel (Belgium), from 1972 to 2020. On 15 August 1971, Mother's Day, her husband Frans gave her as a present the order form for this metallic grey SM equipped with leather upholstery, electric windows, Continental Edison radio, and tinted glass. Delivered in June 1972, it replaced Mrs. Verbesselt's Borgward and impressed the couple with its performance and road-holding qualities. Over the years, the car experienced various adventures: engine overhauls, a theft followed by a repaint, and a total restoration in the early 2000s... Mr. and Mrs. Verbesselt remained utterly faithful to their SM, their admiration for its comfort, safety, and performance never wavering. As she approached the age of 80, Mrs. Verbesselt decided with her husband to seek a new owner for the SM. Having read an article in the SM Club magazine about Thierry Dehaeck's Cady Cars collection, they reached out to him and, confident that their beloved SM would be in good hands, agreed to sell it to him in 2020. Today, it holds a prominent position among the exceptional SMs gathered by T. Dehaeck and has taken part in several prestigious events, such as the Zoute Concours d'Élégance. Numerous documents attest to its rich history: original order form and registration certificate, maintenance invoices and correspondence with the Belgian Citroën dealership and importer, owner's manual, period brochure, FIVA identity card, press kit with photos, as well as numerous notes, reports, articles, and technical documents... With single ownership from 1972 to 2020, a remarkably documented history, and a very fine presentation, this SM combines a unique set of characteristics that make it an exception among other SMs available on the market.
