1987 Porsche 924 S Targa – Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers

1987 Porsche 924 S Targa Solid 924 S with just three owners and a comprehensive history. Meticulously serviced by Porsche Centrum over 36 years. Air conditioning, Targa roof and 16-inch Teledial wheels. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Porsche’s transaxle models - cars with a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. The first model to feature this configuration was the Porsche 924, making it particularly fitting to offer a 924 at auction during this anniversary year. Today, Porsche’s transaxle models are gaining increasing recognition for their high level of comfort, excellent weight distribution and fine driving characteristics. The Porsche 924 was introduced with a four-cylinder engine developed by Audi. With the 924 S, Porsche took a different approach, effectively halving the V8 engine from the Porsche 928 to create a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine of its own. The same engine was later used in the 944, but its story began with the 924 S, as found in this Targa. The silver 924 S offered here has had just three owners and comes with an extensive history. Its first owner was an American, who sold the car to its principal owner, a Dane living in the United States. In 1991, he brought the car home to Denmark, where it was subsequently serviced over the following years by Porsche specialist Kim Clausen of Porsche Centrum. Kim Clausen later became the owner himself and has therefore been responsible for the 924’s maintenance for 36 years. The results are evident in the car’s condition: everything works as it should, and the car drives exactly as it should. The car retains its original silver paintwork with a light-coloured interior. The fabric sections of the front seats have been replaced with original Porsche upholstery matching the leather on the rear seats. The dashboard has a few of the cracks commonly seen in 924s of this era. The Targa roof functions both as a tilt-up sunroof and as a fully removable roof panel. The car sits on the iconic Teledial wheels, in the notably rare 16-inch specification. Finally, the car is equipped with the exceptionally rare option of fully functioning air conditioning. There are plenty of inexpensive 924s on the market, but finding a well-preserved example with the right specification and comprehensive history is considerably more difficult. Here is one with 36 years of meticulous service history, just three owners and a level of care that is evident from the moment you see the car.
