Spanish registration certificate – No MOT required Launched in Japan in 1989, the Honda GB500 Clubman is a bold tribute to the elegant British ‘Clubman’-style machines that ruled the roads and racetracks of the 1950s and 1960s. At a time when the market was turning towards power and technology, Honda chose to look back and offer a single-cylinder bike with a resolutely classic style. It is powered by the 499 cm³ four-stroke single-cylinder engine from the RFVC family, mated to a six-speed gearbox and housed in a deliberately stripped-back chassis. Nothing is superfluous: the slender fuel tank, the single-seat saddle, the low handlebars and the overall design are reminiscent of post-war British racing motorbikes. The GB500 does not seek pure performance: it focuses on elegance, the sound of a single-cylinder engine and the pleasure of a simple, authentic ride. Produced in small numbers and intended primarily for the Japanese market, it has remained relatively unknown. This rarity, combined with its character and Honda’s signature build quality, now makes it a highly sought-after classic motorbike amongst collectors and neo-retro enthusiasts.
