2019 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Ornellaia 2019 “Il Vigore” – Bolgheri Superiore DOC – original wooden case A wonderful opportunity for the enthusiast and collector of great Italian wines: Ornellaia 2019, one of the iconic wines from Bolgheri in Tuscany, offered in the original Ornellaia wooden case. For each vintage Ornellaia selects its own character description. For the outstanding 2019 vintage, they chose “Il Vigore” – power/vitality. A fitting name for a wine that combines strength and ripeness with the elegance and refinement for which Ornellaia is worldwide renowned. Ornellaia is produced at the eponymous estate in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast. The wine is a classic Bordeaux blend, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The individual grape varieties and plots are vinified separately and the wine undergoes a lengthy maturation in French oak barriques. The 2019 is an exceptionally successful vintage: intense and layered, with aromas of dark ripe fruit, blackcurrant, blackberry and cherry, complemented by cedarwood, tobacco, spices, cacao and a fine mineral note. On the palate it is powerful and concentrated, yet refined, with ripe tannins, freshness and a very long finish. A wine that is impressive already, but also possesses excellent aging potential and will continue to develop further in the coming years.
