With its 11 Ha, Château La Tour du Pin Figeac is located on the Haute Terrasse of Figeac-Pomerol. And it is the clays contained in this soil of the Haute Terrasse of Figeac-Pomerol that make its terroir so great. Henri Enjalbert indicates that "These are the remains of the high and ancient Gunzian gravel terrace that the Isle and Dronne rivers together built in the early Quaternary period, coming from the Massif Central. In the subsoil, these gravels are mixed with a dust of clay and ancient sands that play a primordial role in the agrological balance of a wine-growing terroir. Beyond these ancient gravels, there appears a sedimentary subsoil of extremely penetrable molasse." Chateau La Tour du Pin Figeac is hard to find nowadays. The chateau was classified Grand Cru Classé untill 2012. Soil: Figeac-Pomerol terrace composed of gravel and sand on clay, dating from the Upper Eocene and Oligocene. Grape varieties: 75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc Planting density: 6,000 vines/hectare Cultivation methods: Simple Guyot pruning, soil work and grassing, disbudding, manual thinning and leaf removal, manual harvesting, sorting table. Vinification: Gentle extractions, cold pre-fermentation maceration, temperature-controlled cement vats, gentle vatting for three weeks.
