Italian Wine Lot – Giovanni Rosso Barolo 2020 & Recchione Timorasso 2023 – 3 Bottles Quantity: 3 bottles – 0.75 L each Country: Italy Regions: Piedmont 1 bottle – Giovanni Rosso Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba DOCG 2020 Producer: Giovanni Rosso Vintage: 2020 Appellation: Barolo DOCG – Comune di Serralunga d’Alba Grape: 100% Nebbiolo Alcohol: 14% vol. A fine expression of Serralunga d’Alba, produced by Giovanni Rosso, one of the highly regarded estates of this historic Barolo commune. The 2020 Barolos from Giovanni Rosso underwent approximately 25 days of skin contact, followed by natural settling and ageing for around three years in large French oak casks. Classic Nebbiolo character, combining red cherry, dried flowers, liquorice and aromatic herbs with firm but refined tannins, fresh acidity and excellent ageing potential. Professional ratings – Giovanni Rosso 2020 94/100 – James Suckling Highlights dried cherries, potpourri and liquorice, with ripe velvety tannins, elegant acidity and the concentration required for long ageing. 94/100 – Falstaff Praised for its wild berries, raspberry, subtle smoky nuances, balanced structure and long finish. 92/100 – Wine Spectator Notes cherry and strawberry alongside juniper, eucalyptus and mountain herbs, with firm structure, freshness and balance. ⸻ 2 bottles – Julie & Jérémy Recchione Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso 2023 Producer: Julie & Jérémy Recchione Vintage: 2023 Appellation: Colli Tortonesi DOC Grape: Timorasso Alcohol: 13.5% vol. Quantity: 2 bottles An unusual and interesting Piedmont white made from Timorasso, the indigenous variety of the Colli Tortonesi hills that has become increasingly appreciated for its structure, mineral character and ability to develop complexity with bottle age. The wine offers the distinctive combination of ripe citrus and orchard fruit, floral nuances, herbs and mineral notes, with good texture, freshness and a persistent finish. The bottles feature the distinctive Recchione artwork and are from lot L24/24, as visible on the original back labels. I have not found sufficiently reliable professional critic scores for this exact 2023 Julie & Jérémy Recchione Timorasso, so I would not add an unverified rating to the Catawiki listing. Bottle condition 3 x 750 ml bottles. Excellent overall condition. Labels and capsules are well preserved and wine levels are excellent. Please see the photographs for the exact condition of the bottles, labels, capsules and wine levels. Stored carefully under proper cellar conditions. An attractive mixed Piedmont lot combining a highly rated 2020 Serralunga d’Alba Barolo with two bottles of artisanal Timorasso 2023, offering an interesting contrast between one of Piedmont’s great red-wine traditions and one of its most distinctive native white varieties.
