This Pinot Gris Rotenberg 2022, signed Domaine Zind Humbrecht, embodies the purest expression of the lieu-dit Rotenberg in Wintzenheim, Alsace. Planted on steep slopes of oligocene red limestone, this late-harvest vineyard, facing west/northwest, benefits from a shifted sunshine that preserves remarkable acidity and gives the wine a rare mineral tension for a Pinot Gris. Produced biodynamically (Demeter certified) by Olivier Humbrecht MW, this wine comes from vines of about 41 years old and is vinified with indigenous yeasts, then aged on its lees. The result is a dry wine (residual sugar index 1), with a bright yellow color, a discreet citrus nose and a more expressive, suave and velvety palate, revealing aromas of white fruits, honey and exotic notes, all carried by a long, saline finish.
