There is a threshold in the invisible realm of radiation that for more than a century was deemed impassable. This skull, grown noticeably larger than the usual format, embodies precisely that moment of breakthrough: its deep, metallic-dark appearance seems as if it has itself glimpsed through the gate that had remained closed for so long — dark on the surface, yet bearing the knowledge of what lies behind it. Terahertz consists of silicon dioxide, the fundamental building block of quartz and rock crystal, yet in a form that no geological process of the Earth has ever produced — a stone that only came into existence when humanity itself learned to cross that threshold between the waves.
