Vida AMReyes. Born in 1991, she discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts. There she solidified an exceptional technique in oil painting, acrylic, and life drawing—foundations that would later shape her conceptual style. Her early career unfolded amid Cuban cultural ebullience, actively participating in young artist salons and group exhibitions. Her work quickly began to stand out: at salons and exhibitions she earned numerous awards and mentions. AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral, imposing realism that instantly captures the eye. However, her approach goes beyond mere photographic mimesis. On top of rigorously worked anatomy or faces filled with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the wearer, suspended threads, dense color blocks, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and everyday figures are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity. This fusion of technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection.
