A scene of Vietnamese rural and river life (set of 4...

Refined and elegant sequence of 4 vertical decorative wall panels in polyptych style, handcrafted entirely in Vietnam in the second half of the 20th century according to the famous ancient traditional lacquer technique (Sơn mài). Lavorazione e Dettagli Artistici: Intarsi in Madreperla (Nacre): The human figures, boats, animals, and plant elements are finely carved and engraved in genuine mother-of-pearl, whose iridescent reflections capture the light, creating a stunning three-dimensional effect. Fondo Laccato e Sfumature: Mirror-like black lacquered surface, enriched with shades in red and golden-bronze tones, reproducing the evocative atmosphere of sunset over the waters and river landscapes. Lot Description (English) A fine and complete set of 4 vertical wall lacquer panels depicting scenes of traditional Vietnamese rural and river life, crafted in Vietnam during the second half of the 20th century using the famous traditional technique (Sơn mài). Artistry & Craftsmanship: Mother-of-Pearl Inlays (Nacre): Figures, boats, animals, and flora are intricately carved and hand-engraved from genuine iridescent mother-of-pearl, catching the light with vibrant natural reflections. Lacquer & Gold Dust Accents: Deep glossy black lacquer background elevated by warm red and golden-bronze undertones, creating a dramatic sunset effect over the landscape. Narrative Subject (Rural Life in Vietnam): Rice farmers wearing traditional conical hats (Nón lá) working the fields. Young farmer riding a water buffalo amidst bamboo groves. River fisherman on a bamboo boat proudly showing his catch under the full moon. Worker carrying a shoulder pole across a traditional bamboo bridge. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The lacquer retains its beautiful high-gloss shine, and all mother-of-pearl elements are intact, secure, and luminous. Minimal, age-appropriate wear. Historical & Artistic Background (Sơn mài) Vietnamese lacquer art (Sơn mài) combined with mother-of-pearl inlay (Khảm xà cừ) represents a prized traditional Asian decorative craft. Each piece of mother-of-pearl is individually hand-shaped, engraved, and set into multiple layers of polished lacquer, resulting in a timeless polyptych set perfect for Asian art and oriental interior design collectors.
