Aesthetic geode in septaria with barite

From our selection of collectible minerals, we propose an aesthetic Septarian geode with Barite from Gumiane, in Drôme, France. Moreover, it features a Septarian core traversed by the typical dehydration polygonal fractures, enclosing a geode cavity lined with transparent brown-toned Barite crystals, with fluorescence reported by the seller, which enhances its aesthetic value and mineralogical significance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with characteristics that highlight its natural structure and visual impact. Septarian concretions are clayey formations that develop in marine sediments: during the dehydration of the mud the core contracts and fractures into irregular polygons, creating cavities later filled with minerals such as Barite. The name Barite derives from the Greek 'barys' (heavy), in reference to its notable density for a non-metallic mineral, due to barium in its composition (BaSO4). The Gumiane area, in Drôme, is known among collectors for this type of fossiliferous concretion dating back to the Jurassic period. This is an ideal specimen for mineralogical collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also within the crystal therapy and lithotherapy realms, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with very rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight tonal variations may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
