Born in Rouen in 1871, trained at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux‑Arts of Paris, Albert Gaston Guilloux is a complete artist: sculptor, painter and medallist, repeatedly awarded at the Salons and named Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1914. His pictorial work, rarer than his sculptural production, testifies to a sensitivity inherited from the Norman School: rural landscapes, valley views, harbor scenes and still lifes where a soft light and a precise observation of reality prevail. His paintings captivate with their balance between realism and poetry, a subtle palette and a serene atmosphere, highly appreciated by lovers of Norman painting from the early 20th century. An artist still accessible on the market, Guilloux represents an interesting signature for collectors seeking authentic, elegant works firmly rooted in regional tradition.
