Aleister Crowley; John Symonds; Kenneth Grant - Magical...

Spectacular collector's rarity of modern occultism! For sale is the legendary, globally sought-after first edition of “Magical and Philosophical Commentaries on The Book of the Law.” This monumental work was edited and meticulously annotated by Crowley’s official biographer John Symonds and his spiritual heir Kenneth Grant (head of the Typhonian O.T.O.), and published in 1974 by the renowned 93 Publishing, Montreal. This masterwork combines Crowley’s “Old” and “New Commentaries” directly under the respective verses of the Liber AL vel Legis. A typographical peculiarity is the noble printing done entirely in black and ritual red ink. The bibliophile binding shines with royal blue buckram-leather with lavish gold-tooling of the Stele of the Revelation on the front and back, as well as colorful peacock endpapers. The book also includes a black-and-white frontispiece of Crowley with a pipe and color plates. The interior is superbly preserved: The text block is solid, the pages are clean, unmarked, and free of inscriptions or stains. The original frontispiece is perfectly preserved. The blue cover shows minimal signs of aging, the gold stamping on the spine is fully preserved. An absolute showpiece for ambitious Thelemic libraries!
