Alessio Clerc - Chimica Popolare - 1888

Alessio Clerc, “Popular Chemistry. Metalloids – Metals – Organic Chemistry,” translation with notes and additions by engineer Americo Zambelli, Milan, Edoardo Sonzogno Publisher, 1888. Your copy is explicitly the 2nd edition and contains 227 engravings. Bibliographic sources confirm for this edition 608 pages, format about 19 × 26 cm. The copy also has an interesting feature: on the title page there is the stamp “Ex Chemica-Historica Bibliotheca – G. e G.”. Your copy shows several foxing marks, wear to the pages, and above all a binding that appears to be later or restored, with a leather spine and an original/reused inlay that is rather deteriorated. The interior, however, seems complete and the engravings are very fine.
