ot your doll - 41 (n.747) The measurements are: - collage: 50.00 x 40.00 cm Acrylic painting on shredded paper on canvas I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have created. On these tiny pieces of paper one can read scattered words and phrases here and there. Often it happens like this when we really get close to another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent women's faces with features that recall the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a true doll, I am not a doll, your doll and do with me what you want" with all that lies behind, up to, unfortunately, violence. The surface presents small reliefs and I enjoy stroking it, feeling it... I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust. This work is unique and original. Each work is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, with the Certificate of Authenticity included. A tracking number is provided for the shipment. This work will be shipped without a frame and without a stretcher as the piece will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the greater surface will be useful and necessary to be able to stretch the canvas on a frame. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a prolonged stop lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, neglecting sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I am also pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and actually existing. For me painting is "stopping time" at that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are patches of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface. Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works. Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceivable both by touch and to the naked eye. In this recent period, after several years in which my works were created from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical precision that, when viewed up close, seem to form a colorful abstract painting but the farther you move away the more a portrait emerges from the many painted wooden discs. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they lack the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
