Alle Auktionen / Bücher, Karten, Handschriften / Alp. Spuhler - Mon Voyage en Suisse - 1900
A captivating illustrated edition featuring 720 photographs from this travel work devoted to discovering Switzerland through its landscapes, its cities, its monuments, and the traveler’s personal impressions, set against the backdrop of the great craze for Alpine travel and European tourism at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century - The title, Mon Voyage en Suisse, signals a largely experience-based approach, where descriptions of places visited are likely combined with memories, observations, and impressions evoked by the Swiss landscapes - Switzerland then occupied a privileged place in the European tourist imagination because of its mountains, lakes, valleys, glaciers, and health/climatic resorts, which gradually became more accessible thanks to the development of railways and tourist infrastructure - Alp. Spuhler - Mon Voyage en Suisse - SD (circa 1900) - Comptoir de Phototypie, Paris & Leipzig - 720 photographies. Good binding condition, landscape-format work in its full original red cloth binding, wear from use, a few minor flaws on the cover, corners worn, speckled edges, smooth blank spine, front board titled and illustrated - Good interior condition, browning, engraved title page, work enriched with 720 photographs, marbled endpapers in decent condition, a pleasant copy - Delivery service guaranteed within a few days -
