Alle Auktionen / Bücher, Karten, Handschriften / Alphonse De Lamartine - Souvenirs
Exciting four-volume set enriched with a portrait of the author in a frontispiece engraved in steel by PLEE, 2 fold-out maps and a fold-out plate - This travel narrative in which the French poet, writer and politician transforms his journey to the Orient into an experience that is at once geographical, historical, religious, philosophical and profoundly personal - The work relates the journey undertaken by Lamartine with his wife and daughter in 1832-1833, a journey that leads him notably through the Mediterranean, Greece, Constantinople, Asia Minor, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, the Holy Land and Egypt, before his return to Europe - Far from being limited to a methodical description of the places visited, the narrative continually associates the observation of the landscape with the traveler’s expressions of his feelings, which explains the particularly revealing title Souvenirs, Impressions, Thoughts and Landscapes - Alphonse De Lamartine - Souvenirs, Impressions, Thoughts and Landscapes, during a journey to the Orient (1832-1833), or notes of a traveller - 1835 - Volumes I, II, III and IV - Charles Gosselin & Furne - 340 pp.; 429 pp.; 388 pp.; 395 pages.
