An early George III sampler, by Ann Collins, age 10 years, dated June 21 1810. Worked in fine polychrome silks, with a large religious central verse, surrounded by unusual simplistic triangular shaped trees decoratively embroidered and floral spot motifs above a large house with similar trees. Bordered with a simple zigzag border and motifs of smaller triangular tree shapes. 46cm wide x 51cm high. Condition; the backing linen has a few tiny moth holes in the verse. The backing to frame has stained the linen. The sampler may need a layer put between it and the backing board to stop further discolouration and the sampler checked for moth for conservation purposes. The colours are still strong although it has been hung in sunlight.
