An Italian 18k gold and Sardonyx cameo pendant depicting a double portrait. Finely carved double portrait in profile in multi-layered brown and white sardonyx (approx. 43.0 × 39.0 mm). Possibly depicting Minerva wearing a helmet adorned with a Silenus mask, and an ancient female ruler. Smooth gold à cage setting with a fixed loop. The small pendant drop, comprising an emerald bead and a baroque pearl, was added at a later date. Not hallmarked. With a small glued repair. Total height 8.5 cm. Weight 44.09 g. Probably 17th century.
