Alle Auktionen / Antike Kunst / Ancient Roman Bronze Eros — The vanished protector
Eros — The vanished guardian, the remaining love Sometimes what is missing tells the strongest story. A small Eros rests on a preserved hand. The figure that once carried him has vanished, but the hand remains to support him. A moving image: the guardian is lost, while the love is still carried. In this poetic interpretation, the remaining hand is that of a vanished guardian angel. His figure is missing, but his last gesture remains visible: Holding on, protecting, not letting go. The childlike forms of Eros contrast with the weathered surface and the visible cracks. It is precisely that incompleteness that gives the statuette its special expressive power. By looking at the preserved parts, the lost whole naturally takes shape in the imagination. Weight: 23 grams Dimensions: 43 mm the guardian disappeared. the love remained.
