Roman Period Bronze Figurative Leg Fragment, ca. 1st–3rd Century AD A cast bronze fragment representing a human lower leg and foot, shown in a naturalistic standing position. The leg is modelled with a gentle curvature at the calf and a clearly defined ankle and foot, the toes rendered in a simplified yet intentional manner. The upper section terminates in an irregular break, indicating that the leg was originally part of a complete figurative sculpture or attachment and subsequently detached. The proportions and stance suggest that the figure was originally standing rather than seated or in motion. The modelling is schematic rather than anatomically refined, consistent with Roman provincial bronze work intended for decorative or functional use rather than large-scale statuary.
