Born in 1927 in Évreux, André Raffin belongs to the prestigious École de Normandie, heir to the great masters such as Boudin, Dufy, Friesz or Monet. An artist deeply attached to his region, he develops a painting that is at once spontaneous, luminous, and sincere, oscillating between abstraction and realism without yielding to passing fashions. Raffin first exhibited at the age of 20, at the Salon d’Automne in Paris, before becoming a recognized professional painter, notably awarded the Prix de la Jeune Peinture. His work, marked by energetic vibrancy and authentic sensitivity, quickly attracted a wide audience. His exhibitions, notably in Great Britain, met with great success, and interest in his canvases remains strong after his death in 2005. Today, André Raffin’s paintings — Norman landscapes, Mediterranean scenes, and radiant gardens — are highly sought after for their expressive force, luminous palette, and ability to capture the soul of a place. His works regularly appear in galleries and at auction, where they attract collectors and art lovers in search of living, warm, and timeless painting.
