Born in 1927 in Évreux, André Raffin belongs to the prestigious Normandy School, heir to the great masters such as Boudin, Dufy, Friesz, and Monet. An artist deeply attached to his region, he develops a painting that is at once spontaneous, luminous and sincere, oscillating between abstraction and realism without ever yielding to passing fashions. Raffin first exhibited at only 20 years old, at the Salon d’Automne in Paris, before becoming a recognized professional painter, notably awarded the Prix de la Jeune Peinture. His work, marked by vibrant energy and authentic sensitivity, quickly captivated a wide audience. His exhibitions, notably in Great Britain, met with keen success, and interest in his canvases remains strong after his death in 2005. Today, André Raffin’s paintings — Norman landscapes, Mediterranean scenes, radiant gardens — are highly sought after for their expressive power, their luminous palette and their ability to capture the soul of a place. His works regularly appear in galleries and at auction, where they attract collectors and art lovers in search of a living, warm and timeless painting.
