A splendid pair of folding chairs, Plia model, designed by the celebrated designer Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1967. This model revolutionized the very concept of the folding chair thanks to the introduction of the innovative three-disc hinge, which allows the chair to fold to a thickness of only 5 cm with a smooth and perfect motion. Built with a robust frame of chrome-plated tubular steel and a seat/back in transparent plastic, the Plia combine sculptural visual lightness with extraordinary functionality and ergonomics. An evergreen classic of Made in Italy design, renowned for being exhibited in the MoMA design collection in New York. Chairs in good condition as can be seen from the attached photos. They both have feet only at the rear.
