Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique American Star-Pattern Quilt, 19th century Size: 6 ft 2 in x 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m x 1.88 m) Provenance: International Quilt Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln A visually striking American quilt organized around the star, one of the most enduring patterns in American textile art. The complex assembly of small geometric sections demonstrates both mathematical planning and highly accomplished hand sewing. Star quilts were sometimes created as presentation pieces or demonstrations of a maker’s skill. Related nineteenth-century American star quilts are preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, including examples associated with families and church communities. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #464 is in very good condition. There are no visible wear or tear signs. All sides are secured. This piece is clean.
