Antique brass statuette hand-sculpted depicting the baby...

This figurine represents "Navaneeta Krishna," or the "Butter Thief," a figure highly regarded in Hindu iconography, embodying Krishna's childhood. Traditionally made using the lost-wax casting technique, these statues carry historical significance in South Indian devotional art. The patina and the molding style indicate that it is an old or antique piece, intended for family altars or collections. Its appeal lies in the tangible portrayal of a popular mythological narrative, reflecting a rich cultural heritage. Although modern versions produced in series exist, older brass pieces, displaying authentic signs of wear and age, are highly sought after by collectors of Indian folk art and religious objects. Its market value depends on the fineness of the casting details, the depth of the patina, and the estimated age.
