This is a fine antique French gold plate and Sevres porcelain handled walking cane / sword stick, circa 1880 in date. The sword stick a features a finely chased gold plate and Sevres porcelain handle and pommel all with a Bleu Royale ground superbly decorated with panels of romantic figures with gilded high lights. It opens to reveal a square tapering 60cm steel blade mounted on a tapering Japanese bamboo shaft with its ordinal brass ferrule.
