Alle Auktionen / Zeitgenössische Kunst / Anton Heyboer (1924-2005) - De Vinkeveener
De Vinkeveener by Anton Heyboer (1924–2005) is executed in mixed media and measures 80 × 107 cm. The work is dominated by broad, strongly fluid color fields in red, dark brown, black and yellow, interspersed with carved-out sections of the light ground. Across these color fields run bold curved lines, drip traces and finer, nervous line structures, creating a layered and dynamic image. The composition is built around a large dark arc that spans nearly the entire picture plane. Below it, black and brown-green areas cluster, while the lower edge is accented by transparent yellow and ochre bands. The combination of flowing washes, jagged contours, splashes and open areas gives the work a distinctly graphic character. In the lower right is the hand-written signature. The work is dated to the period 1980–1990 and is in good condition. Biografie kunstenaar Anton Heyboer (Sabang, 1924 – Den Ilp, 2005) gained a substantial international position, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. His work was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York and was shown at Documenta in Kassel in 1959, 1964 and 1969. Kunstmuseum Den Haag has possessed a substantial collection of his work since the 1960s and organized in 1967 the first major museum survey of his graphics; in 2017 another extensive retrospective followed. The Rijksmuseum also owns works by Heyboer. Heyboer was self-taught and developed a strongly personal visual language in which graphic lines, signs, numbers and symbolic structures take on an important role. Especially his etchings initially formed the core of his oeuvre; later he also worked extensively with painting, drawings and photography. In 1975 the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam presented a large exhibition of his work.
