Alle Auktionen / Sonstige / Antonio Rizzi (1869-1940) - Allegoria Mitologica
Two-faced Masterpiece: Genuine Mythological Allegory from 1910 by Antonio Rizzi (1869–1940) An exceptional, well-documented investment opportunity for connoisseurs of Italian Modern Art, Freedom and Academic Symbolism. This exquisite lot features a fully finished oil painting on the front, complemented by its original graphite preparatory sketch on the back, autographed by the Italian master Antonio Rizzi, and dated 1910. Antonio Rizzi (Cremona 1869 - Florence 1940) was one of the leading figures in Italian monumental art, internationally celebrated for painting the curtain of Cremona’s Ponchielli Theatre and for winning the historic 1913 national competition for the majestic mosaics inside the Vittoriano monument in Rome. Composition and back-side discovery: The front presents a highly refined and atmospheric mythological allegory, rooted in late Baroque and Classicist aesthetics, depicting a female figure gesturing toward the sky beside a heraldic lion and a spear-bearing warrior. The back offers museum-grade preservation value: an authentic graphite sketch outlining the geometric forms of the figures. It bears the clear autograph inscription by the artist: "Antonio Rizzi / 'Bozzetto' / 1910." This two-sided piece functions as a solid, integrated Certificate of Authenticity, documenting the exact creative process of the artist during his golden period.
