Aquamarine & Diamond Earrings Created in Our Workshop Using an Art

The heyday of the Art Deco era fell between the two catastrophes of the 20th century, the two great wars. But it was precisely in these intervening years that the art of jewellery experienced an unprecedented richness of materials and a perfection of execution that had never been achieved before. In those years, everything seemed to interpenetrate. The new formal language of the time, which was explicitly directed against the floral Art Nouveau style and sought to counter it with clearer, purer forms, was applied in almost all areas of the arts. People were particularly impressed by the architecture of the time, as well as the new automobiles and the unconditional modernity associated with them. "Higher and higher, further and further, faster and faster" was the attitude to life in this era - and in this lay confidence and joie de vivre. The large pair of earrings presented here are entirely in keeping with this era. A finely designed structure rises above two very clear aquamarines in a classic staircase cut, illustrating the understanding of form of those years described above. The graphic elements consist of elegant arches and circles, creating a marvellous interplay of light and shadow. In each case, 28 diamonds in historical cuts cover the platinum with their starry lustre. At the beginning of the century, platinum was the most expensive precious metal of all and platinum jewellery was correspondingly exclusive. The diamond-set platinum elements originate from an Art Deco watch bracelet from the years around 1930, the bracelet of one of those watches with a tiny dial that are rarely worn today. Our goldsmith added the aquamarines with their settings and the earwires to the elements and thus created these earrings in the spirit of Art Déco. The movement of the light in the gemstones constantly creates a new interplay of reflections. An absolute recommendation for all lovers of exciting earrings!
