Armchair (2) - Leather - Mid-Century Modern

PAIR OF COGNAC LEATHER LOUNGE CHAIRS – 1970s Captivating pair of vintage lounge chairs dating from the 1970s, characterised by generous proportions, enveloping forms and warm genuine cognac leather upholstery. The chairs feature compact, generously padded structures with broad rounded armrests, deep seats and high backrests. The button-tufted upholstery, divided into soft padded sections, adds depth and movement to the surfaces while emphasising their inviting character. Their solid, almost architectural form is softened by the curved armrests and generous padding. The result is a substantial pair of chairs representative of the comfortable and sophisticated character of 1970s interiors. Over time, the natural leather has developed a beautiful patina with nuances, folds and variations in colour that make each chair unique. The warm and luminous cognac tone highlights the richness of the material and allows the chairs to blend easily into both vintage and contemporary interiors. The chairs rest on short cylindrical wooden feet, which raise them slightly from the floor without altering their low and enveloping profile. Ideal for a living room, conversation area, study, loft or interior dedicated to Mid-Century design, the chairs may be used together or placed separately. An authentic and highly decorative pair, immediately conveying the warmth and atmosphere of 1970s design. Details: Period: 1970s Style: Mid-Century Modern / 1970s Italian design Quantity: 2 lounge chairs Materials: natural leather, padding, internal structure and wooden feet Colour: cognac Dimensions of each chair: Height: 76 cm Width: 95 cm Depth: 95 cm Condition: good vintage condition, with patina and signs of use consistent with age, carefully documented in the photographs. The leather displays folds, superficial scratches, variations in colour, areas of greater wear and light abrasions resulting from use and the passage of time. These characteristics should not be regarded as defects, but as evidence of the authenticity and history of the two chairs. The differences in tone visible across the upholstery are typical of naturally aged leather and contribute to the distinctive appeal of the pair. The structures appear solid and the padding retains a full and inviting shape. Two substantial and comfortable lounge chairs, made unique by the natural ageing of the leather and their strong material presence. Information for the buyer: The chairs are in good overall condition and display normal signs of wear consistent with their age. These traces of time do not affect their beauty, shape, functionality or structural integrity. As these are vintage items, they may present minor imperfections or traces of their journey through time, which enhance their authenticity and charm. Over the years, they may have undergone minor maintenance or conservative restoration work. Please examine all photographs carefully, including the detailed images, as they form an integral part of the description and provide a complete representation of the chairs’ condition. Provenance: private collection Shipping: The chairs will be shipped with careful professional packaging and insurance to protect the items during transport. The shipping amount shown in the Catawiki listing is purely indicative. The actual cost will be calculated according to the buyer’s destination address.
