Diorama is a scenography invented by L.J.-M Daguerre in 1822 to obtain three-dimensional effects in the representation of places, people and objects. 1449--This handmade miniature diorama painted by hand depicts a small historic building surrounded by armed figures with flags, representing the Isabeline period (late 16th century - early 17th century, approximately between 1558 and 1603), set in the context of the English Renaissance in England. The structure reproduces the historic theatre The Globe of London, famous for hosting William Shakespeare's works. It presents the typical octagonal plan (or externally circular) with light-colored half-timbered walls and a partial roof that left the central courtyard exposed. The structure reproduces the historic theatre The Globe of London, famous for hosting William Shakespeare's works. It presents the typical octagonal plan (or externally circular) with light-colored half-timbered walls and a partial roof that left the central courtyard exposed. Fully handcrafted and painted by a specialist with various types of materials. Note also that the faces of the soldiers are different from one another. Size 18x15x13 cm Weight 400 g. 1448--Handmade diorama with a Tuscan Romanesque-Renaissance style structure (with bi-chrome arches in white and green motifs) and a group of hand-painted lead soldiers representing infantry or pikemen of the XVI century (Italian-style lansquenets or Italian militias of the period). The model is handcrafted on a wooden base, complete with scenic details such as sandy ground and the façade of a rural or fortified building. The soldiers depict heavy and light infantry units of the 16th century (high Renaissance), accurately placed between 1510 and 1560. This era historically corresponds to the famous Italian Wars. The era and the uniform style are the Morion Helmets and Brassards or Cabasso Helmet. Many of the pikemen (especially those in the front on the left and right) wear the classic crested Morion helmet or the cabasset (also known as a “capacete”), characterized by the sloping brims. These were the standard-issue helmets of Spanish pikemen and musketeers and Italian militias of the 1500s. Armor (Breastplates). Some soldiers wear metallic breastplates over the doublet, typical of assault troops and pikemen exposed to enemy fire. The soldiers in the center wear wide sleeves and trousers, decorated with vertical two-tone stripes (for example green and white or red and white). Although less exaggerated than the flashy costumes of the infamous German Landsknechte, this puffed and slashed style was extremely popular across Europe among mercenary infantry (including Swiss and Italian). The central soldier wears a typical Renaissance flat cloth hat (likely a barret or a short cap), often adorned with plumes in the period troops. The tall vertical spears held by the soldiers represent pikes (long spears used to counter cavalry) and halberds or falchions. Note the hilts of short swords (such as katzbalger or side swords), secondary weapons essential for close combat when the pike formation broke. The colors white, green and red, together with the finishes of the miniatures, are a strong inspiration from Italian city militias (such as the historic Tuscan or Florentine bands of Giovanni dalle Bande Nere) or allies operating in Italy, perfectly in line with the diorama’s architectural backdrop. Size: 21 x 14 x 12 cm Weight 540 g Being a delicate object, it requires special packaging to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.
