AUSTRALIA 1931 Francis Chichester group of flown covers (5) on leaves with Australia 2d on 1½d stationery envelope with 'Norfolk Island 30 MR 31' c.d.s to Lord Howe Island with '1 AP 31' arrival c.d.s and a second cover bearing 6d Air tied 'Lord Howe Island 5 JU 31' to Rose Bay, each with 'Carried by Air First Flight to Australia' cachet and signed by pilot. A third cover bears 2d & 3d tied 'Thursday Island 7 7 31' to Katsuura (Japan), via Manila, also signed, a cover carried internally within the Philippines with 'First Aerial Mail Mati to Ormoc July 13 1931 Via F. Chichester's Flight' cachet and a fifth cover Manila to Katsuura, also signed by Chichester. A fine & very scarce group of covers.
