Baoulé mask Kple Kple of Goli - Wood - Burkina Faso (No reserve price)

Description : This Baoulé African mask belongs to the Goli group, which intervenes during funerals or when a grave danger threatens. The Kple-Kple type mask like this, worn by a youth, announces the emergence of the powerful Golin Glin. The circular face is always topped with horns, such as those of a ram. These horns connect him to Nyamye, the creator god. The sobriety of the features, with the toothed mouth and the white circular crenellation, further emphasizes the expression of the face. This stylistic finding may be due to the knowledge and influence of a few flat masks from the Volta region in Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast. Sold without stand!
