This painting represents a tranquil pond surrounded by vegetation, where numerous floating leaves and pink aquatic flowers scatter across the water surface. The gaze is drawn to the turquoise blue reflection that runs through the center and the foreground, like a luminous band that makes its way through the darker areas. Around it, greens, deep blues and some violet hues form a serene and enveloping landscape. The scene invites one to pause before the pond’s stillness and to discover how light transforms its colors and reflections. Rounded leaves of the water lilies occupy much of the surface, distributed in irregular clusters that reveal water spaces between them. Their tones vary from light and yellowish greens to darker and bluish hues that seem to capture the color of the shadows and surrounding vegetation.
