Basilius Faber, with revisions by, among others, Cellarius and Stubel - Thesaurus eruditionis scholasticae omnium usui et disciplinis omnibus accommodatus... - Leipzig, Johann Friedrich Gleditsch, 1749 - part 1 (of 2) - (20) 1792 columns (=896 pp) - full parchment folio binding with raised bands on the spine is provided with gold stamping and shows centrally on the front cover the gilded municipal coat of arms of Utrecht. This specific copy originates from the personal library of the Dutch poet Francois Haverschmidt (Piet Paaltjens, 1835-1894) and bears his signature and dating on the front flyleaf: "Fr: Haverschmidt. '1853.'" The year 1853 marks the period during which Haverschmidt studied theology in Leiden and laid the foundation for his later literary alter ego Piet Paaltjens. This makes this volume an interesting association copy for collectors of nineteenth-century Dutch literature. At the front of the book is the original handwritten price document (Ex-Praemio) dated 19 September 1804, signed by Rector J. Nyhoff and professors of the Utrecht Academy (including Christoph Saxe and Philip Willem van Heusde). Beautiful 18th-century Dutch city prize binding from Utrecht. Good and solid condition for its age. The parchment is lightly patinated with normal signs of use. The gold stamps and the Utrecht coat of arms are clearly visible. The interior is browned/discolored. Some dog-ears. The handwritten price document from 1804 is present, but the lot is without the further physical price or attachments. The Haverschmidt signature from 1853 on the flyleaf is sharp, clear, and undamaged preserved. To be sent by registered mail
