The coin still bears the traditional symbolism of the old Republic. The Dutch Maiden represents freedom, while the Bible refers to faith as the foundation of the state. The crowned Generality Arms on the reverse emphasizes the unity of the Dutch provinces. A large silver three-guilder from the historic transitional year 1795, featuring a distinctive depiction of the Dutch Maiden and the Generality Arms.
