MASK KIDUMU FACE MASK - TEKE / TSAYI - DRC ZAIRE In the 19th century, the Tsayi, a Teke group, were an important people living between the Louessé River and the Upper Ogooué. From that time, they produced wooden masks of a very particular form: a polychrome disk displaying symmetries with respect to vertical and horizontal axes. Thin slits are cut at eye level as well as holes around the edge of the disk to thread fibers or feathers through. The dancer Kidumu plays with the mask’s symmetry by spinning, performing a cartwheel, and perhaps offering different readings of the motifs that decorate it. Height 40 cm Width 30 cm I ship within a maximum of 3 days with a Colissimo tracking number. thank you
