BAUDRY (Paul) Paul Baudry. Photographic portrait and biographical study. [Paris, late 19th century]. A double-sided printed sheet devoted to the painter Paul Baudry (1828–1886). The front side features a photographic portrait of Baudry embedded in the text, as well as several excerpts from the artist’s correspondence with Bergerat, followed by a biographical commentary. The reverse side continues the study of the painter, covering his training, his teachers, and in particular his work on the sets for the Paris Opera. An interesting iconographic and biographical document on one of the great decorative painters of the Second Empire. Quite numerous foxing spots, small tears, and marginal losses; paper is brittle.
