Big Peat 10 years old Winter Edition 2026 - French Red...

Big Peat 10 Year Old Winter Edition 2026 French Red Wine Cask 48%, 700ml With the Big Peat 10 Year Old Winter Edition 2026, Douglas Laing presents an exceptional wintertime interpretation of its popular Islay blended malt. The whisky was allowed to mature for a full 10 years before undergoing a 16-month finishing period in hand-selected French red wine casks. This extended finish complements the unmistakably maritime and smoky Islay character with notes of dark fruit, subtle spice, and an elegant wine-cask influence. This limited Winter Edition is bottled at a robust 48% ABV, naturally without coloring or chill-filtration. Aroma: Maritime peat smoke and sweet malt meet dark forest fruits and warming spices. Elegant oak notes, along with hints of vanilla and butterscotch, add depth to the bouquet. Taste: Full-bodied and complex, featuring salted caramel, black cherries, and ripe plums. Dark chocolate and a subtle nuttiness blend with spicy notes and characteristic Islay peat smoke. The French red wine cask imparts an intense dark fruitiness. Finish: Long, warming, and smoky. Winter baking spices and dry peat smoke linger, accompanied by dark fruit, fine oak, and a touch of chocolate. The Big Peat 10 Year Old Winter Edition 2026 combines classic Islay peat smoke with the rich fruitiness of French red wine casks. The 16-month finishing period and the age of 10 years—relatively high for Big Peat—make this limited bottling a particularly mature and complex Winter Edition.
