BLACK MORION QUARTZ

From our selection of collectible minerals we present a rare group of quartz crystals of the Morion variety originating from Russia. Furthermore, it is characterized by glossy black crystals arranged in a dense cluster on a light matrix, with the characteristic dipyramidal habit known as 'beta-quartz', an accompanying historical period note accompanies the piece, elements that, together with the rare origin, enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical significance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and overall aesthetic balance, with features that highlight its natural structure and visual impact. The deep black color of Morion is due to structural defects in the quartz lattice (SiO2), related to traces of aluminum and exposure to natural radiation over geological time. The 'beta-quartz' habit described on the label refers to the pyramidal morphology of the crystals: although chemically alpha-quartz, stable at surface temperatures, they retain the typical shape of the beta polymorph, stable only above 573°C, indicating the thermal formation conditions. Russia boasts historic localities for crystallization of smoked quartz and Morion in pegmatitic and alpine settings, appreciated by collectors for their quality and rarity on the Western market. It is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always indicated in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
