Blessed Virgin Mary of the Holy Rosary - Vintage - Canvas...

This painting depicts the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Holy Rosary, inspired by the statue venerated in the famous Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fontanellato. The work presents the typical features of this specific Marian iconography: The iconography: The Madonna wears a majestic ceremonial dress and a wide deep blue mantle embroidered with the golden letters "AM" (or Ave Maria / Auspicium Mariae), holding the Baby Jesus. Both subjects bear on their heads rich royal crowns. The signature and dating: At the bottom of the oval there is an autograph inscription with the year 1939, which places the creation (or the base print) in the period of greatest splendor of devotional memories and pilgrimages of the era in the first half of the twentieth century. The craftsmanship: The sacred image is enclosed by a rich watercolor floral garland and is framed by a sumptuous gilded frame with baroque motifs, typical of paintings intended for domestic devotion or private altars.
