Box (3) - Lacquered papier-mâché - Triptych of Russian Lacquers

A precious three-piece traditional Russian lacquered papier-mouché collection set, hand-painted. The set includes exquisite miniatures from the two most famous and sought-after historic schools: Rectangular Box "Palekh": Masterpiece ("Авторская работа") entitled "The Appointment" ("Свидание"). Entirely hand-painted with egg tempera and gold leaf. Signed in golden cursive by the artist L. Kiraeva ("Кираева Л.") and dated 1991, a historic year marking the dissolution of the USSR. Exterior and interior backgrounds in red lacquer. Square Box "Fedoskino": Authentic lacquered box from the historic Fedoskino school, signed in gold on a red background ("Федоскино"). Depicts a traditional Russian fairy-tale scene (inspired by "The Frog Princess" / "The Tale of the Tsar Saltan"), executed with the characteristic oil painting rich in shading. Vintage Round Pin "Made in USSR": Hand-painted and lacquered pin featuring a scene of a girl in the woods (Alënuška). The back bears the original metal pin mechanism in perfect working order and the Soviet-era gold export hallmark "Made in USSR". Conditions: Vintage overall condition generally good/fair. The Palekh box from 1991 shows a dense and widespread network of aging cracks (craquelé) on the outer red lacquer background and signs of wear with black paint loss along the base profiles. The Fedoskino box and the pin show slight opacification and minimal superficial signs of age consistent with their age.
