Box - Walnut, Mahogany, Inlays in precious woods - Jewelry box, treasure chest

Jewelry box / casket in precious woods – 19th century Elegant and important 19th-century bedside box, large in size and with particularly solid and heavy construction, made with a refined combination of precious woods, including walnut and mahogany, enriched by contrasting decorative inserts in maple and ebony. The lid features a geometrically balanced composition, with concentric rectangular fields and a dark band that creates a pleasant contrast with the warm tones of the wood. The central ebony inlay, framed by a thin light border, gives the piece a sober and elegant character. The same decorative motif is echoed on the sides and the front. The interior is entirely lined in green velvet, very elegant, pleasant and capable of creating a refined contrast with the exterior. The bottom of the box is protected by black felt. The hardware and hinges are in gilded metal. The lock is functional and has been serviced; the key is not present. The item is presented in excellent overall condition, especially considering its age, with normal and slight signs of wear that contribute to the piece’s charm and authenticity. Dimensions: 37.5 × 27.5 × 14.5 cm. Thanks to its generous size and the elegance of the decoration, it is not only a functional box but a true piece of furniture. An interior designer could place it on a large sideboard, a desk, a bookshelf, or a central coffee table, in both classical settings and as an antique focal point within contemporary interiors. The pairing with surfaces of marble, brass, smoked glass, or dark woods is particularly evocative. An important, decorative box with a strong presence, suitable for storing documents, jewelry, collections, or small personal objects. Photos are part of the description. The packaging will be handled by Ankerior, specialized in packing and moving artworks, with training and certification from Palazzo Spinelli, Florence.
