Alle Auktionen / Uhren / BREITLING Watch, Ref. 4002, gold-plated and steel—two-tone dial, Venus

Breitling Genève Ref. 4002, circa 1956, an elegant 35-mm dress watch featuring a gold-plated case and a stainless steel caseback. It stands out for its superb original two-tone dial, featuring a finely grooved silver center and a wide gold outer ring, punctuated by applied hour markers. The gold dauphine hands, the central seconds hand, and the date window at 3 o’clock—featuring a magnifying lens integrated into the Plexiglas—complete this aesthetic, which is so characteristic of the 1950s. The watch is powered by the Breitling/Venus 227 manual-winding mechanical caliber, featuring 21 Rubies, beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour, and offering approximately 36 hours of power reserve. Its operation has been inspected by Atelier des Tocantes in Paris. The watch functions perfectly and performs very well on the chronocomparator. The dial has also been examined and confirmed as original. The Plexiglas is in very good condition, with no noticeable scratches. The case shows signs of wear consistent with the watch’s age, notably slight localized wear on the plating along certain edges, without detracting from its overall beautiful appearance. Fitted with a black leather bracelet, it comes with a signed Breitling box. A rare and particularly elegant dress Breitling, combining a very attractive original dial, a high-quality Venus 227 movement, and all the charm of mid-century design.
