Antique bar brooch in red gold from the period and 5 large natural coral cabochons from the Mediterranean (8mm) - Late 19th Century Authentic and fascinating late 19th-century bar brooch (Late Victorian / Biedermeier Era). The jewel is crafted in solid antique red/pink gold of low karat, finely hand-worked. The metal bar has been carefully cleaned dry with a specific cloth: the metal revealed its shine and the warm original pinkish hues of the era alloy (rich in copper), without releasing any dark carbonaceous residue (definitively excluding gilded silver or plated metal). On the back, near the clasp, the historical maker marks are clearly visible and stamped into the metal. The brooch mounts in line 5 extraordinary and rare natural coral cabochons from the Mediterranean (Sciacca/Torre del Greco) in a sought-after uniform salmon-orange color. The gems feature an ancient sunken cabochon cut, with a front diameter of a generous 8 mm and a thickness/height of about 5 mm each. Original period rear mechanism perfectly in step with the era and functioning, characterized by a long pin and a classic open “C” clasp.
